A century of domination! Created in 1917, the Chuck Taylor All-Stars is probably the only model to have made such a lasting impression on pop culture without having aged a single wrinkle.
Originally named ‘Converse All Star’, the shoe crossed the path of Chuck Taylor, a former basketball player of renown. The latter brought his knowledge of the sport to Converse to improve the model and adapt it to the practice of basketball. Icing on the cake, he ensured the success of the model by going himself across America to act as Converse’s sales representative for young athletes, which encouraged the brand to associate its name with the pair in the 1930s. This made him the first sportsman to give his name to a shoe, long before Michael Jordan!
Nearly one hundred years later, the attempt to update the original model that turned into a fiasco (the All-Star II) will end up proving that the Chuck is now an untouchable icon of pop culture, just like the Coca-Cola or Ray-Ban’s Wayfarer.
Popular and adopted by all circles, it is natural that artists and designers from all different backgrounds have tried to reinvent the shoe. We have therefore selected ten of the best Chuck Taylor All-Star collaborations, to be discovered below!
